Attacker Bloody Axe – The Axe of Evil Shall Prevail!!! (2020)

Attacker Bloody Axe
Release date: July 28th, 2020
Label: Electric Eyes Records

So it’s been a long time since we heard from the band and this comes to light and I will admit that I have been a fan forever
but are they back for real or is this release just something to keep the name of the band alive?

Who knows but this release should fill the needs of fans of the band as the sound is still there that we have to love and grown.

After a short intro it goes into The Wolf which you can hear what band has been putting out in the past and with perfect form as it has a very old school vibe to open and when the vocals come in you know its them as the trademark vocal style is there and the track is pounding as it should be with great character, a very good opener that’s solid as can be.

And with a machine gun snare drum that sets the tone on Ancient Black Menace, this track comes right at you with a slight break this has a good drive and the production on here is quite excellent as the bass is heard perfectly so a good number but for me this next track The Axe on Higth is one of the highlights on here, as this really catchy riff opens up and then it lights up with a superb vibe to it and the vocals are supreme and even with a minor break its still pounding heavy as the lead comes in and then fades to glory.

Well things really change on Putrid Smell of Cementery as this is more on a slower tempo and it kind of drags but there must be which goes with the title and a nice lead on here that saved it for me.

I will just say after this, the remaining three tracks are back to full force and they all will crush you as they all have that signature sound we all love.

For me this was worth the wait, the only complain is its very short only a bit over 25 minutes, I just hope this isn’t the last time we hear from the band as the break was way too long.

Darkspell – Into the Darkness (2020)

Release date: November 6th, 2020
Label: ThreeMetal Forces Distro/Independent

Well its been along time since I gave this band a listen, as I remember giving an ear to their first demo from 2018 and wanted to hear what would come of them and I seen they released a few singles in between and now this full length of death thrash.

From the first notes of the opener Tormented Mind, I could hear these guys had stepped it and where now ready to unleash this chaos on the underground and an assault of pure heaviness was to come, the ripping leads on here really impressed me and a very old school sound to top it off.

And it continues on Endless Abyss with a very heavy groove that pounds and the blazing leads on here really crush, fucking killer shit that will drill your ears, and Punished by Your Own Hand, this track really hit the spot with a heavy riff that pounds and then it up roars as it takes a new life that will leave you floored.

And from the previous track the whole album just went into another dimension as Burn the Church from the opening just goes for the throat! the vocals on here are right to the point, just pure evil the way it should be, and bashing keeps rolling on Into the Darkness as this storms in but then the breakdown which is slow but has so much feeling with a great lead and then after a such awesome reprise as it gets heavy as hell an excellent track!

Darkspell the track is straight on with some blazing leads that deliver but what comes next on
Gates of Hell, well here you have another onslaught as this has all you would want as this will crush you, want extreme this is it!

As we near the end the raging continues on Evil Returns the guitar work on here is ravishing and will leave you floored, a very catchy number as you can hear in the vocals and the band never gives up as the closer Otherside is brutal as it should be as this pounds and when it goes off this delivers the guitar leads left me with grin of delight.

You want to talk about a excellent piece of underground release, give this a yell to the fuckers that don’t know this is gem, total support!

Oldeath – Rise from Majestic Darkness (2020)

Release date: November 11th, 2020
Label: Oratorivm Records

After last years very impressive debut demo (Born Between All Death) the band is back with its debut full length with all new material, so lets get into this ritual.

As from the opening with this macabreish sounding organ on Misanthropic Faith, this goes off right from the start, the vocals are old school without a question but what really stands out here is the music this is heavy with class well arranged with some great catchy leads so very impressive start.

And one thing I will point out is this has all kinds of tempo changes through out as you can hear on the next track Winds of Funeral, this the perfect example of what your going to get for the rest of the album but whats good is that it all blends in just perfect.

As this went along it gets even better as the flow of the whole thing is something that needs to be heard the musicianship on here is top notch! as all the tracks have there own special appeal to them, to me its one of those albums you can play over and over and always find something new.

In closing I will this is an excellent debut! this band kills! a superb debut that will destroy the masses, not a dull moment from start to finish, good work lads.

Hell Possession – Phantom Aggressor (2020)

Hell Possession
Release date: October 31st, 2020
Label: Independent

Was surprised when the news came that Hell Possession was back after a few years of not being on the map, but the way this has been promoted sounded like they were out to destroy even more now with a new line up.

This just being a two track single with an intro, as we go into Poltergeist, and with heavy bass line to start but then right into a frenzy of madness as this is out to take no prisoners, heavy pounding drums with lightning guitar riffs and blazing leads, a very impressive track with all the elements required.

For me Lord of Hate is the track that stands out more as it comes at you at full force, this is a beat down in the most positive way, a total shredder! a meek break where you can hear the pounding bass then roars back with some great leads, solid stuff.

So now we just have to wait for the full length as this has my approval.

Invincible Force – Decomposed Sacramentum (2020)

Invincible Force
Release date: October 22nd, 2020
Label: Dark Descent Records

Well the wait is over after the bands brilliant debut here we have this long awaited second slab.

The band has definitely matured since the first, this release absolutely crushes!

The chaos is spread out through this with great riffs of catchy shit to please all the fuckers out there, all the tracks have a high intensity to them, nothing new to the genre but it has all the good dose you could want.

There isn’t any standout points on here as they are all there, me being an old school metalhead I had this grin of delight as I listened to this.

This is heavy shit and I highly recommend it as it will crush you!

Negative Or Nothing – Drowned (2020)

Negative Or Nothing
Release date: October 28th, 2020
Label: Careless Records

Here is an interesting piece of Black Metal the band sent me, this being the bands second full length, I dug into it and this isn’t bad at all.

From the opening track VMBRA you can hear these chaotic vocals that go with this fast dark vibe and as the pace slows it gets even more dark but it builds up as it goes as the track has a lot of great points in it as it keeps the listener tuned in, a strong opener.

One thing that really caught my ear to this point is there is some killer riffage on here, Animadversio is a bit more different as it has more of a dark feeling to it but it carries well with the flow of things and shows another side of the band.

And it continues on Insomnvs, this is even more out there with this hypnotic riff that covers most of the track, it takes you on a ride as it has some great hooks to it even as it has this total change at the end it still delivers the punch.

Anomia is just some dark evil sounds that lead up to Mersvs. which is chaotic from the screams of hell that appear and then the band goes full out, but with more feeling as a lot of slow depressive mode comes to light as you listen to it.

The closer Intransitive has a more faster pace to it as what the band has delivered earlier is here, and you can hear all kinds of stuff as this is almost 10 minutes long and a good way to end this ritual.

Something you should give a listen to if this is your cup of tea.

Lux Nigrum – Ars Nigrum: Aur She-Ain Bo Machshavah (2020)

Lux Nigrum
Release date: September 17th, 2020
Label: Nocturnal Silence

A compilation of some of the bands earlier work, If you never heard this bands excellent take on Black Metal this release should be a good start.

As I been following the band its good to have all the material in one place, a very old school vibe on some of these tracks if you want to know how I feel about it.

The progression is heard no doubt and it still has that fresh sound as it goes and the vocals add more as they stand out.
if you like hard driving music this delivers on all cylinders.

Hearing this just reminds me I hope some new material is in the works in the near future.

Orion – Mysterivm Cosmographicvm (2020)

Release date: September 30th, 2020
Label: Iron, Blood and Death Corporation

Well where do I even begin as this band has only two demos released and awhile back, as I listened to one of their earlier demos they have really matured from then and now and have risen with a brilliant full length of death/thrash.

This is one of those albums that caught my attention from the first listen, the opener On Being and Becoming goes right for the throat, I was taken on how good the band sounds, lots of good hooks all over the track, ripping leads and the vocals are just right, you can understand them perfectly.

And basically this is what is offered here, there is no dull moment on this as there is plenty of neck breaking madness to get your fill to.

And to add on the track Epinomis some keyboards are thrown in and fit just right as they come in when the track breaks down and then goes off in the end.

This concludes with Witchery War which is the only old track on here and sounds way better than the original and a good closer to this.

All I can say this a must have to your collection this album slays!! one of the best of the year.

Ejecutor – Que dancen las brujas (compendio diabólico) (2020)

Release date: April 25th, 2020
Label: Nyarlathotep Records, Deranged for Leftovers Productions, Impaled Records

Yes this is a compilation released by Brazilian labels this year with the first two full lengths and the first EP but as a bonus we get the 2020 EP Metal Venenoso which I will be reviewing here, the Chilean pressing has the same tracks but the bonus is a remastered demo plus some live tracks.

One thing that I hear is this band has gotten better with age, if you enjoyed the production on their last full length it has carried over to this.

Metal Venenoso, right to the point with a heavy riff to start then into the driving fast paced shit! before breaking down to this real heavy part you hear the bass is heard and then some ripping lead and after that the blows up into oblivion, just what I expected total killer.

And it continues on Que dancen las brujas, as this comes out more storming and if your familiar with the band you know what I mean, this is an all out assault on the senses, the break after the lead is fucking intense as hell a true nerve wrecker.

As there are only three tracks to the EP they chose to do a cover of Varathron in Genesis of Apocryphal Desire and they did a great job as it sounds better do to the production, a great cover.

Just some more killer shit to add to the bands discography, these guys are already known worldwide and one of the scenes best as they have already been to Europe to spread their mayhem, hope a new full length is next.

Diaböl – Demonomania (2020)

Release date: October 5th, 2020
Label: Hydra Arrows Records

The first demo from this one man Black Thrash act, Four tracks of filthy mean in your face metal!

You can tell what your in for just by the title of the first track Sodomiza en el nombre de satanás and the vocals are sick just like they should be and the lyrical content is just perfect as they go just right with this, lots of anger with some killer leads thrown in and the backing vocals, good shit!

More sickness on Gargolas as this has the drive and straight to the point, with the killer chorus but it goes quick as this one is short but still dig it.

93 mantras blasfemos, probably my favorite track on here as the background moaning adds this fucking great feel to it as goes into chaos and a insane drive that just drills you straight on!

The closer Rockandroll is the Master of Sin is the only track sung in English and the vocals sound the same as before and its short but sweet total aggression at full speed, am excellent closer.

This is only for maniacs that like shit like Devil’s Poison, Speedböozer etc. I highly recommend it and hope more is in the near future.
