Vanagandr – Lycanthropic Black Metal (2021)

Vanagandr
Release date: June 24th, 2021
Label: Kaos Regnum Prod

So here we have the full length that follows the demo that was released earlier this year and it is what I expected way better production, all the tracks that where on the demo are on here but the band made a title change to a couple of them plus two new ones and an outro.

So if you got into their first ritual this will be a delight as one of the new ones on here Lord of the Spirit Wolves is a scorcher one of the best, raw and in your face with that branded sound they have come up with total old worship and its lengthy which makes it even better. Somber Omens of Vilkaci the other new one is as good as well which fits in well with the whole thing, off the wall riffage going on here that puts a twist to it.

The (Outro) Under the Enchanted Moon is just a dark sounding piece that ends the ritual just the way it should.

The step up brought this to its full bloom, one of those I love to listen to but most can’t handle as the vocals are out there and stand out but fuck them I dig this and hope to see whats next.

Morbid Cruelty – Holodomor (2021)

Morbid Cruelty
Release date: August 15th, 2021
Label: Burning Coffin Records

One of the most anticipated releases of the year as if you remember these two veterans of the scene put out a demo back in 2019 that got some high praise and we been waiting for what was next so we get a full debut and we couldn’t ask for more, Ten tracks ok here all the ones on the demo are featured as well plus an Incubus cover.

And from the start of Sacrifice, we get this mellow intro but then we are off into what was expected some right down dirty death metal and will say the production on here is top notch and it gets even better on Holodomor as this steps it up on the delivery some high quality aggression being delivered here and even the tempo changes are just right not long to let the listener down.

The album is one of those that gets better as it goes, the old demo tracks shine on here with the new production as well. the compositions are all well written plenty of great hooks and ripping leads galore, the Incubus that ends this is spot on.

In closing if you take your death metal seriously you need to hear this as it won’t disappoint has all the goods you could want, one of the best I heard so far this year.

Vomit – Deathlike Vomit (2021)

Vomit
Release date: August 9th, 2021
Label: Headsplit Records

The Death/thrash horde known as Vomit has returned with this killer EP. these guys are well known by now and if you follow them this will get your fill of the band for now,6 tracks with a Terminal Death cover that runs a little over 20 min.

And from the start Final Judgement is a pounding feast this has the drive and all the good hooks that are expected and when the lead comes in just listen to the drums take a bashing an excellent opener to this and prepares you for Carrion, which to me has that old school feel the band is known for, this has a great vibe to it fully packed to the hilt with all the goods, the vocals stand out as well.

A different approach on The Unsane, but still is bruising as it gets stronger as it goes the lead that pops up first is insane and what follows is just as good, a bit shorter than the previous but still has a powerful punch! Realm of the Goat starts out slow but then burst into a fury of madness with an intense vibe that will have your blood boiling, this shit rips I tell you, the band is going off here, death thrash at its best!

So onto Judge Death (Terminal Death cover) and this is better than the original to be honest as the band puts its own brand on the track, of the covers they done before to me this is the best one, and to the closer Resurrected, this shreds as well no letting down with gut ripping leads and a backbone of brain splitting aggression this brought this release to a mighty end.

An all out bashing of the mind is what you get here, the band sounds as good as ever and I highly recommend getting this to add to your collection of the band.

Profanación Sepulcral – Diseminacion del Insulto Repulsivo (2021)

Profanación Sepulcral
Release date: May 10th, 2021
Label: Propagator Propaganda/Infernal South Productions/Sick Rites

Here we have this upcoming blackened thrash metal band, I had listened to their earlier demos and heard this was promising so it was delight to see this release and here the production has been upgraded so that adds to the fuel.

We get some earlier tracks with new life and some new, I have the Euro version of this and it includes two bonus live tracks, so onto this splatter.

With a gravedigging effect with ghouls in the background as the intro to Insoportable padecimiento agonico, this one of the new tracks featured and it pretty much one of those tracks that start with a heavy slow bashing sound before going off into a more aggressive feel and it does deliver, the drums on here are to the tilt!

And we get the same on Cruel nigromante, señor de la ira, and will say the lyrics that go with these songs are better than expected as they were written with detail one of the good aspects I caught on here and this track is gripping as well as fast and slow parts fill it, mean and dirty as hell. Delirio sardonico is the third and new final original track featured here and this one has a life of its own with the drums bringing the chaos at the start this has a great drive as it soars through with the band going off here and this would be my topper of the new tracks featured here.

Negra cuspide abrupta and Repulsiva visión are the last studio tracks on here that where previously released and have a new life here and the first one really shows why I when I first heard it the band caught my ear, its a has a great drive to it as all hell breaks loose as it does on the last one as well as it shows as this is a creeper I would say as it gets heavier as it storms on a great ending to this ritual.

The two live bonus tracks on here are the last songs featured in the studio part and I think they are different than the ones that where on the live demo and I only say that by the date they were recorded, but inclosing this is a pretty good EP as it delivers with high expected energy, I highly recommend it!

Athanatos – Reditum ut Magic(k) (2021)

Athanatos
Release date: May 7th, 2021
Label: Goat Vomits Productions

The first full length from this satanic trio and an impressive slab of Black/Death Metal and I was amazed at the way this was packaged by Goat Vomits Productions it truly will be a collectors item.

But lets get into it as the title track Reditum ut Magic(k) is basically a wicked acoustic guitar and a spoken poem by Aleister Crowley, and then we go into Sabbat of the Goat and this comes out like a storm from hell as the band is at full throttle but it calms down later to a more torturing feel as by the lyrics this had a really great blasphemous feel to it so it prepared me for the ride.

Eternal Return/Potestas Magnum Universum, for some reason these two tracks were blended together on my copy of the cd but anyhow the first one is a crusher from the start and evil as it comes as the band is taking us down to hell with “Chronos eating his sons”, fantastic stuff! as it has this heavy riffage that rolls you down the path and breaks down as we go into the next track and you feel like your somewhere else and I was pretty much right as the lyrics can relate to what I thought was going on and it gets heavy as it goes on and fades just right.

For perverted fuckers out there we have Bride of (K)haos, a smashing number with some fucked up perverted lyrics about fucking this satanic slut and the way its composed this shit stands out lots of bone crushing pounding on here a solid number to add to this release, the ending is fucking great!

As the closer Sacrilegious Passion is basically another fucking number and with a different vibe as a strong riffage opens it up that rides through and some touching lyrics that most men can relate to, love the yelling on here that adds to the delight of the whole thing and the way it ends makes you feel there is more to come.

A killer release by all means and don’t have any preview as there is none so I respect the band so nothing here but take my word this is worth it, blasphemous chaos for the taking, contact the band on their Facebook page or Oratorium Distro where i got my copy.

In Nomine – Hijos de la Tempestad (2021)

In Nomine
Released: April 23, 2021
Label: Rawforce Productions

And we have the bands second full length and only the way the band can deliver its hard driving sound but there is more on here as there are many styles delivered on these tracks as the opener Paz suicida is a hard driving number that has a more traditional speed metal sound to it and a gripping lead that will grab you.

But it gets even heavier on the title track Hijos de la tempestad, here the band comes roaring out at full force and the message comes through just right and the bass on here really has a shine, this is one of the top tracks on here when it comes to drilling effect, and a more old school feel comes on Los confines del mundo and here the vocals really stand out and it basically how this whole album plays out lots of different tempos that I really like and some very deep lyrical content that kept this whole album interesting to my mind.

This is a superb release, if your a new or old fan of the band this should please you as it has a bit of everything on here and its a lengthy release at 51 min so there is plenty of good vibes on here ripping leads are played all over this opus, A great follow up to the last release and this has been spinning a lot on my player these days.

Vanagandr – Demo 1 (2021)

Vanagandr
Release date: May 2021
Label: Independent

A new Black Metal band of two maniacs and this being the bands first it caught my ear and I like the concept behind this as well as it leans towards werewolves.

Five tracks on here and the intro The Call is this haunting slow number with hellish screams in the background and sets the mood for this, Grim of Werewolf opens up with some howls and then the vocals sink in and they are some torturous yells that really add a delight to this, the music isn’t your typical high speed bashing shit this is slow but it works as its dark and catchy.

Things speed up on Lycanthropic Black Metal and I like the guitar tone the band delivers on here with some gripping riffs this shows another side of the band, the chaos is there and some interesting breaks on here as well and it continues on Hymn to the Black Wolf but here it sounds even more heavier as it swirls all the way through with no breaks to slow it down, good shit!

To the closer Sorcery in the Fullmoon Night and with this catchy hook of a riff this one is a topper, even with the raw production this really does kick your ass, a break comes in later that even gives more character to the track as it burst out again towards the end which brought this to a delightful end.

This might not be for everybody but I really suggest you give it a listen, the band just put out their debut and most these tracks are on it so I’m going to look into that cause I really enjoyed this.

Prosatanos / Degotten – Demonic Fornication (2021)

Prosatanos / Degotten
Release date: January 3rd, 2021
Label: Total Death Records

A split that features the German band Prosatanos and Degotten which I’ll get into more on this release and 10 tracks featured here more by the Germans.

Basically a black thrash release, for me Prosatanos is something you would have to listen to the vocals are something you would want to hear first, the music is vicious and for me the strongest track is the only one they sung in German to close their part of the release so have a listen.

So onto Degotten and you can immediately here the difference between the bands and the first track Beast Fornication shows the power this band has always delivered with some great production on here that you can hear all the instruments just right and just the way the composition is written gives you a vibe these guys know how to slay your ass.

And this next one Whore (Hure) brought back memories of their earlier material and the bass really stands out here and it has a great drive and the vocals here are excellent as we go into Ravisher of Souls which opens with this crunchy riffing and then goes off into a more faster pace but it has an interesting break and the guitar work on here really stands out and keeps you glued to the whole thing, the way the whole thing rides out makes this one of the best on here.

Todeshymne, the closer and perfect as the horde comes out to kill, the double bass drums taking a beating is always good but this has that anthem feel to it for me and the band really has some great crushing parts in here and the vocal way this ends pretty much a great closer.

I found this out of nowhere and will say its good to hear Degotten again as this horde has always put out some killer shit! I just hope for another full length and maybe all these tracks on here will be on it so lets see whats next.

Goat Invokation – La deformidad del primigenio caos (2021)

Goat Invokation
Release date: June 15th, 2021
Label: Independent

Take note maniacs of this dark death metal band as this is their first EP and what an opus of insanity we have here as this was released today and I was impressed from the first listen.

Six tracks of glorious head splitting material here, Vórtice abismal opens up with this freaked out intro but hell immediately comes in and does it this track will blow your head off its packed to kill! everything is just perfect the vocals are as good as your going to get them and the band itself is on fire.

As we go into Inveteradas abominaciones and it breaks in just as it should these guys have it down just as it should be, this is crushing, has all that old school feel written all over it so be prepared. Corrompiendo al infame gave this old Morbid Angel feel at the start but then it got heavier as it got sicker and more intense, the guitar work on here hits the spot, excellent!

Valar de la equidad is more on the slower dark path at the start but with a vicious roar to it as it gets intense as it goes and an interesting groove change that’s in here really takes the track to a new level, as Slave Wills delivers as well this is some bashing shit just listen to the drums and a slow break that comes in made this even more enjoyable, lots going on here and well written as we go to the closer Hordas de aniquilación and this tops this release like it should as it comes right at you for the kill, this has so much feel with different tempo changes and you hear the band going off especially near the end, this fucking rules!

Hell this made my day a fantastic release that should put this band on the map, highly recommended as this slays from start to finish, definite topper for this year.
