Here is a look into what main man Azerate (Guitars, Vocals, Bass) has to say on this up and coming chaotic black metal band and what it brings to the underground.
ECM – Dado que algunos no han oído de la banda describe su sonido, por lo que escuché que suena en bruto como el infierno.
Azerate – Lux Nigrum es Black Metal ruidoso, sin tomar influencias de otras bandas o querer apuntar a cierto sonido, solo hacer musica evocadora, real y con un trasfondo relevante.
ECM – He visto que tienes algunas otras bandas, esta es la principal ahora?
Azerate – Tengo varias bandas/proyectos donde hago cosas bastante separadas de lo que es el Metal, por ejemplo De-Sartre va orientado al ruidismo, todas son las principales para mi.
ECM – Tienes otro miembro que toca la batería, pero él está en México, cómo lo encontraste y le enviaste las canciones a través de correo electrónico para que pudiera fijar las partes de batería o se fue a Chile?
Azerate – Á’gîshnümünääb Svtekh Öyrábörá trabajó conmigo en las baterías, el es el dueño de Ars Sigillum Manifesto y el encargado de Kur Extorquere, me interesé en su proyecto y lo contacte para conseguir su musica, luego de eso le comenté que estaba formando Lux Nigrum y que necesitaba hacer las baterías para el primer demo, como aquí en Chile no encontré a nadie dispuesto, el aceptó y contribuyó sin problema para hacer surgir a Lux Nigrum, le envié unas maquetas con guitarra de las cuales el compuso la batería, luego fue grabar, mezclar y así se creó todo.
ECM – Cuentame sobre el nombre de la banda.
Azerate – Liberacion a través de la Luz Negra, la iluminación de la oscuridad que brinda absoluta ascensión. Trabajos personales antes de que se formara LN.
ECM – Se menciona que lanzaron dos demos, me di cuenta que son los mismos temas, pero la ultima version tiene unos extras, es lo mismo con esos temas agregados?
Azerate – Primordial Chaos es el primer demo, Chaos Ritual es un promo tape lanzado por Defiled Light, que sí, contiene los primeros temas del demo y los dos ultimos son unos temas ritual improvisados en especifico para esa edición.
ECM – Cómo surgió el sello americano Defiled Light? Cómo llegaron en contacto contigo?
Azerate – Constantemente estoy buscando música nueva, vi que este sello trabajaba con mucho Black Metal Lo-Fi, Noise, Ambient, etc, escuché sus lanzamientos y me interesó mucho, así que yo los contacté, les mostré mi trabajo y les interesó, me ofrecieron una edición en tape con el sigilo creado por Á’gîshnümünääb Svtekh Öyrábörá como portada, muy conforme con el trato con ellos.
ECM – Que piensas de la escena Black Metal en Chile?
Azerate – No tengo mucho interes en la ”escena” de Black Metal acá ni en ningún lado, para mi honestamente es un circo cualquiera y no me interesa perder el tiempo en eso, en cuanto a las bandas, nada que decir, creo firmemente que de Chile salen cada vez mas y mejores bandas haciendo real Black Metal con un sonido e intención seria para lograr su cometido.
ECM – Qué hay para el futuro de la banda?
Azerate – Ahora estoy trabajando para el compilado ”Micelio Taumatúrgico” de Psithurism Recs que incluye bandas Black Metal/Dark Ambient, también viendo lo del proximo EP para este año o ya para el 2017, y obviamente continuar esparciendo a Lux Nigrum por este asqueroso universo.
ECM – Gracias y tienes unas últimas palabras?
Azerate – Gracias a ti por el interes y el espacio a Lux Nigrum, aun tengo copias del primer demo en cassette para los interesados. Salve CAOS.
As promised here is a interview with Trauko the man behind all the mayhem that is Sangre Negra.

ECM – Qué es el concepto detrás de toda la banda, ya que es el único miembro y veo que estabas en otras dos bandas estás siendo parte de ellos o se trata de su proyecto principal?
Trauko – Hail saludos a todos y gracias por este espacio. Primero participe con compañeros de armas con la banda “Ritual Oscuro” el año 2009. El 2010 editamos un Promo e hicimos unas cuantas tocatas. Al separarnos con el mismo batero de Ritual Oscuro fundamos “Eltun” el año 2013, ahí participe en el primero Demo “Oscuros Bosques Pagamos” editado el año 2014.
En esta banda no desarrollé el Metal que quería hacer completamente, así que me retiré para formar un proyecto solista más real, con la finalidad de vomitar Negro Metal de antaño, sucio y destructivo. Actualmente estoy concentrado sólo en “Sangre Negra”.
ECM – Para mí esto tiene un sonido como el de Bathory (temprano), los dos primero temas y los otros dos más oscuro, son una de sus principales influencias?
Trauko – Bathory antiguo es una de las influencias, pero también lo son: “Celtic Frost”, “Venom”, “Motorhead”, el buen Metal Negro Sudamericano, el Heavy y Thrash de los 80, de ahí viene mis ideas, las cuales se ven reflejadas en los primeros dos temas del Demo. En los dos últimos temas claramente traté de expresar la misma fuerza en la música con un aura más oscura y lúgubre.
ECM – Hábleme de las cuatro canciones y lo que hay detrás de ellas.
Trauko – Las cuatros canciones que componen el Demo llevan por nombre: “Ritual de Fuego”, “Oscuras Revelaciones del Brujo”, “Negros Vientos de Oscura Guerra” y el tema que le da nombre a la edición “Bruma Primigenia”. La parte musical te la detalle en las primeras dos preguntas, lo lírico y conceptual está orientado a la Guerra, la cultura Mapuche Precolombina, su guerra contra la invasión ibérica y la Naturaleza en Chile entre otros temas. No me cierro a ninguna temática aún, pero en este primer trabajo va por ahí el mensaje.
ECM – Cuándo te diste cuenta que querías hablar en contra de la cristiandad?
Trauko – Cualquier institución que lucre y busque el poder bajo el alero de una falsa divinidad debería ser destruida, algunos glorifican la cristiandad por su eterna maldad y por la suma de muertes y oscuridad que ha traído a la humanidad, pero yo lo veo por el lado de nuestras reales creencias, nuestra cultura. Deberíamos devolver a reconocer nuestras ancestrales costumbres y erradicar lo cristiano con su falsa bondad impuesta con sangre y dolor desde la invasión extranjera.
ECM – Qué te inspira musicalmente en estos días?
Trauko – Actualmente no hay mucho que rescatar, pero si en sudamericana se hace un Metal más verdadero, acá en Chile se hace buena música también. He estados por estos lados, reconociendo bandas nuevas que rescatan el verdadero sonido que debe tener el metal, sin arreglos ni tecnicismos. Aunque prefiero escuchar el metal de los 80, el real y no prostituido con mezclas y arreglos maricones.
ECM – Tienes cualquier material nuevo que para algo nuevo en el futuro?
Trauko – Actualmente he terminado con el proceso de creación y distribución del primer DEMO, a través del sello Hell Kakok, se ha repartido en todo Chile, además de Argentina, Perú y Bolivia y he recibido buenas criticas. Actualmente he comenzado la creación de nuevos temas con la idea de crear Metal más oscuro, aún sin fecha clara de salida, pronto tendré novedades.
ECM – Cómo se siente acerca de la escena del metal negro en estos días? Creo que hay demasiadas bandas y algunos son mierda, pero me gusta la tuya así que por eso estoy haciendo esta entrevista.
Trauko – Hoy existe con la errónea idea de evolucionar la música, expandir nuevos horizontes, y metal se mezclo con otras tendencias, lo cual mató la esencia del metal verdadero. El metal debe ser sucio, destructivo, oscuro. Así lo concibo yo. Lo bueno es que las nuevas generaciones han sabido recoger el sonido con el nació esto, de la década de los 80 y algo de los 90. A mediados de los 90 las bandas comenzaron a hacer mierda como lo dices tú. Aun hay bandas y seguidores que rescatan la esencia real, lo verdadero nunca morirá, el falso metal se destruirá sólo, pero no es algo que me importe.
ECM – Vas a tratar de conseguir toda una banda juntos para salir y reproducir su música en vivo?
Trauko – Con mi experiencia de las bandas anteriores, no me interesa en consensuar una idea de banda. Si uno tienes las ideas claras no necesitas más. El otro tema es que acá los productores no realizan tocatas buenas, con buena producción. Están más preocupados en ganar dinero a costa de las bandas, sin tener un back line de calidad. De paga ni hablar. Uno gasta en instrumentos, grabación y post producción y en las tocatas los productores te pagan con cerveza. Aunque acá se rescatan algunas productoras, no descarto en un futuro formar una alineación ya sea de sesión o estable para realizar alguna tocata.
ECM – Por último, ¡tienes alguna últimas palabras para la gente y gracias de nuevo por su tiempo?
Trauko – Saludos a todos los desquiciados que leen estas horrendas palabras, acá desde Santiago de Chile, “Sangre Negra” seguirá creando con la única finalidad de para esparcir el Metal Negro más agresivo y real. Manténgase en las trincheras, la guerra continua…

Here is a brief interview with Pablo Vera the drummer of this excellent new atmospheric black metal,with two releases under their belt,and I must say the new album is excellent,I wanted to hear what’s the story behind it all.
ECM – Alright let’s start by saying thank you for the interview and for those who have not heard the band, how would you describe the band?
PV – Hi. Our music falls under the tag of atmospheric black metal. That may be a little vague because there are different bands that share this subgenre, but basically, our music is primarily fast and melodic, it has melancholic vibes, and it’s charged with textures and emotional slow parts influenced by post metal, doom metal and post rock.
As a reference, we have part of the sound of 90’s Swedish bands, such as Dissection, Dawn or Sacramentum, etc.; and part of the sound of modern bands like Drudkh, Altar Of Plagues, Wolves in the Throne Room, Winterfylleth, etc.
ECM – So there is the story behind the name of the band is something we should know about it?
PV – We chose the name Sol Sistere because it means solstice in Latin (actually, the literal meaning is still sun). Our ideas within the music have a lot to do with the human spirit, and for us, the sun is a perfect representation of such concept. Besides that, it’s always an interesting topic since the sun means a lot for several different cultures; it can be a symbol for immortality, god, knowledge, etc. It’s really easy to praise the sun if you think of nature as some sort of deity.
ECM – I read that all members have been in other bands, are all of you committed to this project for the long term?
PV – Yes, definitely. In the case of Pablo (drums) and Ricardo (guitar), Sol Sistere is the only band they are currently involved with. For Juan (bass) -who plays in post/progressive rock act Bauda- and Luis (out new guitar player) -who plays in death metal band Knell- Sol Sistere may not be exclusive, but that doesn’t mean they are less active. We are all constantly working in the band, in one way or another.
ECM – So how was the reaction to the new album around the world? I was impressed when I heard it and I had to review it, to me is one of the best albums to come out this year.
PV – Thanks for the kind words.
In general, the media’s reaction has been quite positive. Most of the reviews have considered the album as above average and also within the best albums of the year, which is an unexpected and huge honor, to be honest. We have read some different points of view because of the nature of our music, I mean, some reviews think of our album in terms of a 90’s-style record with a twist, and some others put the album in the post metal area, but again, with elements which make them unique. Whatever the focus, they usually agree with the music being filled with emotion and textures. We’re very happy with that kind of words, and I think is more than what we expected
ECM – The songs are very complex, but they all fit nicely, what is the secret behind the song writing? why everyone add a little here and there? as I said in my opinion I was never bored by the whole thing.
PV – The secret is trying to have an honest sound of our own. We have clear influences, but we’re not trying to copy anyone or do anything that has been already done, we’re just being honest with our musical taste and the feelings we want to evoke.
Regarding the writing process, we work with rough recordings using a drum machine, that way we can all listen to a really developed idea instead of a one-guitar track, and provide a better opinion if it’s a good idea to make some changes. We always comment on the new songs and try to make them grow so when the real recording takes place, we already know exactly how it’s supposed to sound, no surprises.
ECM – How did the signing with Hammerheart Records happen? It must have been a great thing for you since the label is based in the Netherlands and they have great distribution.
PV – When we finished our album, we started the process of looking for the ideal label, so we basically wrote emails to a bunch of different record labels of different sizes, being Hammerheart Records the best option. As you can expect, most of the labels just ignored our email, but three of them replied and were willing to listen to our music. They took their time, but when HHR finally listened to the whole album and decided it was really good, it was an easy choice for us. We were very happy when they said they wanted to work with us and it all turned out great, they do an amazing job getting our album reviewed and noticed internationally.
ECM – So what are the plans on showing your music live for the public? I see you have a few shows lined up for Chile,any plans on maybe going out of the country in the future?
PV – Yes, we have some gigs scheduled in Chile, in different cities, and we have almost sold out our copies of the album, so I think that’s a great start. We would love to play some shows abroad, we’d like to do a European tour, but that’s just an idea for now, it’s still being planned, nothing is confirmed.
ECM – Finally I want to thank you again and some final comments you would like to share?
PV – We would like to tell you that we’re already working on new material and we have several new songs that hopefully won’t disappoint you. They are basically in the same vein of this album, but they also have some a new touch so the album won’t feel like a sequel, but a whole new thing with the same emotions.

Here is a chat with Nicolás Muñoz from Deranged an upcoming thrash band that I reviewed earlier this year and was really impressed on their sound,if you like that old school sound give this band an ear they bring it to the hilt.
ECM – Thanks for your time and can you give me a brief history of the band?
NM – Without knowing anyone around here, was a summer day at the end of 2013, a typical school day on the bus spoke to a thrasher (at that time) without knowing him, I asked if he knew a drummer, and I was introduced to Nicolas Castro (Deranged’s actual drummer). At the end of 2013 in Santiago it was organizing a “Total Thrash” was then that Nicolas had the same passion and feeling for Thrash and decided to go to see this recital. We arrived back to Concepcion with Nicolas and felt very motivated by seeing that THRASH METAL still standing in those places, we decided to try a couple of rehearsals, everything went well and was there when it began to take shape what is now known as Deranged . The hardest thing at first was getting our Thrash Metal taken seriously, in a city where the genre is dead and attempts to ” Thrash ” that were made here left much to be desired for local bangers.
ECM – So what are some of your inspirations as far as bands?
ECM – Let’s talk about the EP,when I first heard it I got this old school vibe from it,it even brought back memories of the past with the way it was recorded has anybody ever told you about this?
NM – Yes, many people told us that sounds very old school, that sounded dirty but with an eighties sound. We were cautious about that, we love the eighties sound and wanted to sound as similar as possible.
ECM – Alright so when you guys come up with making your music does the whole band contribute? what;s the process?
NM – The process of composition of all songs was made by Nicolas Muñoz, although some structures were modified until the recording, except “Hidden Stabs” in which all the members contributed riffs and structures.
ECM – I seen you got a Russian label that distributes the release how did this come about and have you gotten good response from it?
NM – We contacted Zombie Records, we showed them the ep and immediately said yes. The response was good, people from Europe contacted us about that release and they liked it a lot.

ECM – So how has the Chilean scene reacted to the band since it has been out? I figure it must be good since the thrash scene there is one of the best in the world.
NM – Overall pretty good, especially for the more central parts of Chile (Santiago and fifth region), they quite often invite us to play in those places. But here in our city, they do not appreciate us so much, we can say that we are the only band of this style here.
ECM – How was the Total Thrash Festival back in June? I seen the list of bands that played and it was impressive.
NM – It was good, but to be a festival with such good bands, there were very few people, but it may be that just at that date Chile played for the America´s Cup… We finished playing and soon came the game and they put a giant screen for all the crowd saw the game… hahahaha.
ECM – What can we expect from the band in the future?
NM – We are currently focused on the single that will come out soon. Then comes the composition for the disc, there are many ideas turning, Deranged continues on the same line, making fast and violent Thrash Metal, now with riffs with a obscure touch (think something like Hell Awaits, for example) Stay tuned to the band.
ECM – For the people that want to get your material what should they do and will you have any merchandise in the future like shirts,patches,etc.

Dangerous needs no introduction these days as they released a solid debut Metal Heritage last year that put this band on the map,here is a recent chat with Raúl Carreño (Guitars,Vocals) on whats been happening since the release of the album.
ECM-As for those who do not know you can give a brief history of the band?
Raúl-The band was born in 2006, and was founded by Daniel Gonzalez and Carlos Manki, members who continue to this day. During the years 2006 to 2009 were released some demos that generated good reviews at the time, then between 2009 and 2010 there was a break in the band, as always: lack of commitment of some members, repeated failures, etc … which led the band to a recess. Between the years 2012-2013 Daniel and Carlos rejoin the band, with other members, until the year 2014, where the band enters Raul Carreño, our current guitarist / vocalist, and later, in 2016, joins us Patricio Valenzuela, current bassist Dangerous.
ECM-So how have things gone since the release of the album? I’ve seen a lot of good comments.
Raúl-The truth is that it has gone better than expected, two months after releasing the disc (November 2015), half of the 500 copies we had were gone,this between trades and sales, we had an incredible response from abroad,and the truth we did not expect, as the same in the national scope we had good movement and received very good reviews overall, we had many invitations to play, so we could show our music in different places in Santiago, plus San Fernando and Valparaiso.
ECM-How did you finally reach an agreement to use the name Dangerous and is there a story behind it?
Raúl-The name comes from fanaticism of the founders of the band, Anthrax, and the name comes from the Armed and Dangerous EP.
ECM-Consider the band retro? As many these days call any thrash band that, but I don’t believe the band should be labeled that.
Raúl-Not at all, we like the Thrash Metal forged in the 80s and that’s what we play, if we are called retro or not, we do not care, we just do what we like.
ECM-I have seen that you have added Patricio Valenzuela as the new bassist, was it easy to find him and does he bring something new to the band we will hear in the next album?
Raúl-Patrick is an excellent bass player and was our friend before joining the band,he played in another band were friends with (OLD FORCE), so when we were without a bassist, he was the first choice to ask that will fill the part, and at the time we offered him to be an official part of the band and he accepted. And is definitely going to be a contribution for the new album, we are eager to create new songs.
ECM-So have you had any contacts to do any concerts out of Chile? It would be nice one day to come to the United States or Europe.
Raúl-It would be great, but we have had no offers so far, I think we should first be released by some international label for our music to reach more people, and after that we could think about going to play out.
ECM-What is your opinion about the thrash metal scene everywhere these days? I see there are some very good bands from Chile who are keeping alive the flame of the old school.
Raúl-The current thrash metal scene in Chile is going through a very good time as shows and quality is concerned I think, these last years very good bands have come out (Dictator, Hellraider, Old Force, Metastasis, etc.) in addition to those that have had their time on the scene and they have finally realize their metal in professional formats (Massive Power, Dissident, Chaotic Bastard, etc)
ECM-Since the album is still new, any plans on maybe having some new songs appear on an EP later this year or are you just going to wait for an entire album?
Raúl-At the moment we are in the process of creation, and we are not sure if the next will be an EP or a full-length, all depends on how things are going, and how our pocket is when we want to record, hahaha.
ECM-I want to say thanks for the interview and do you have any last comments you want to say to the rest of the world?

Some of you are probably not familiar with this band, for the record they play death metal (Beginning) but now have gone into the black/death genre,so I had a few questions to ask Felipe Brintrup Rios (Guitars,Vocals) about what’s going on with the band as they are set to release a pro tape demo.

ECM-For those who do not know the band can you tell what is the force behind the band and the bands would be considered as a source of inspiration?
Felipe- Well before I answer your questions, thank you for this interview.
The band was created in 2005, created by Felipe Brintrup of Puerto Varas and was looking for a drummer in the field of extreme death metal; in the neighboring town of Puerto Varas this new Braunau, which is the residence at the time of drummer luis Cayuqueo.
I explained the construction of the band and the riffs that I had created and immediately began to create music.
Then we spend time creating one rehearsal cassette recording with two songs (2005) and at the rehearsal we met and we add to the band bassist Fernando rauque resident Braunau. The rehearsal cassette was very underground distributed only those who really liked the style, soon time passed and no more was delivered as that cycle had passed.
The live performances began in different cities of southern Chile and always with the desire to achieve out of the south and spread the music as much as possible in Chile and hopefully abroad.
And so the band remained until they reached the typical problems of work that usually separates bands, taking into account that in Chile practically you can not live off music. That’ll explain later in the interview …
On the inspiring bands you ask me, they are many and not only death metal, but many styles within the occult, extreme and violent metal, it would be difficult to respond with specific bands as you mentioned earlier.
ECM-What is the story behind the name Vexatum?
Felipe-The band before taking the name Vexatum, had the name “Demolior Clangor” over time I renamed it myself to what really are the lyrics of the band the mystery violence, etc. Vexatum comes from Latin, it’s rather extensive but summarized as: maltreat, humiliate, torture, within the morbid and malicious aspect which determines the band as something unique in one end and within that the inspiration of what is truly inspired by evil given to their riff, tones, lyrics, etc …
ECM-Since the band formed in 2005 discography is very limited, is there any reason for this?
Felipe-Yes there is a very clear reason and I mentioned it in the first question, the primary reason is money, then the lack of jobs and changes in cities, have money to record in a professional studio and have decent material to the public.
Now the band is just going through that issue and 5 years and therefore now launching a pro ep tape, so that the public who knows the band knows we’re working on the final touches of the final production which will take the band back to the stage.
In 2007 we released as a gift 2 demos with two tracks in the south, and they were put online, for those who downloaded them good, but for those who didn’t we won’t be putting anything more, that has had it’s time.
ECM-You’re going release a new demo but I see that was recorded in 2009 why so long to launch it? and being distributed and will be available outside of Chile?
Felipe-Good in 2009 we entered the studio to record what would be our first album of 9 songs lasting 30 minutes, it was not possible because money issues and internal problems of the band, but always on the same subject is money, therefore I spend my time trying to raise the money well and finish the musical production, and failed, but to record 4 songs of study which will be released as ep-pro / tape, the rocksur seal records Montt port.
The reason for the time elapsed was because the band momentarily separated, since I (Felipe Brintrup) go to work and live for 5 years to La Serena for a better job opportunity, and drummer luis Cayuqueo goes further north in the country for the same reason in Antofagasta.
So now ,elapsed time and work decreased in the north of the country, I will return south with the songs finished for the album and with drummer of Unbaptized (Fernando Bachmann) and vocalist guitarist from Maligant Worship (Cristobal Brintrup) who will be the patch as bassist of the band, will record the Vexatum disc within this year, hoping to be released in the same year or in 2017.
No material outside the country has been released and for us it would be great to do with a foreign label, but yes, I would like that for the record we will record this year, as there is a very big evolution between mix of styles, Vexatum is no longer a band only death metal right now, now Vexatum is a death / black metal band, and this evolution will be on the disc.
ECM-I want to know more about this and what the song titles and the topics are?
Felipe-The names of pro tape songs are: Venenum, Lupos. Text of the Suffering, Hominum Et Cruciatu Doloribus.
Topics on the pro ep tape, talk about human agony as a general culture of human beings,finding pain as cures as anguish, enough death metal lyrics.
ECM-I have seen on youtube you’ve done some live shows and saw that you opened for the legendary Pentagram in 2010, if I am right, how did the idea come about and how did it go?
Felipe-Well we played with the great Pentagram, but also with Atomic Aggressor in 2009 and Magnanimus the same year, prior to that only shows underground and shows on private by word of mouth, we had a lot of movement as a band from the south of the country, so now is the time to take the big leap.
Well playing with such great bands and more arduous path, it is an excellent experience since many more things you learn in performance, share big stage is something remarkable.
The idea of the presentation was Australis Records, they took us to the presentation to spur along Pentagram among other bands and more.
ECM-Since you’ve been on the scene for so long what are your views on progress?
Felipe-Well I been on the scene long before Vexatum, earlier I was in Terrorem (death metal) and FURIA (death metal) after that I created Vexatum as the band of all my expectations of life and extreme musical inspiration, it is my great creation .
The evolution of the band as I mentioned in previous answers, is that the band is no longer just death metal but has always been inspired by the occult, black metal in satanic cosmic themes and Luciferian. The mixing death metal with black metal and dark religious mystery that is something spectacular and that is to see on the disk to be recorded this year.
It is more ritual mixed with powerful riffs and extreme drums.
ECM-In conclusion, any last comments for the rest of the world?
Felipe-The conclusion is very clear, if you’re going to listen to extreme metal, understand what you hear, see and study the symbols of the covers, it’s all work is motivation, it is culture and history, it is ritual, remember that all the loud music inside death and black metal is music that always has one goal and that has lead respect to the buying public of the original material and go to live presentations to see a quality show.

I heard a couple of tracks off the demo ep and it’s some pretty good shit and hopefully the new album gets some good distribution so the rest of the world can hear the band.
Pilsen Drinkers is a thrash band that’s been around for a few years now,I recently got contacted by Rod (drums) and I wanted to know what’s going on with the band.
1.ECM-You’re one of the original members,let’s start out and tell people who are unfamiliar with the band what its all about.
Rod – Hello friends, I introduce myself, my name is Rodrigo, founder drummer since 2004 with vocalist Diego of our band Pilsen Drinkers, we been making music for more than 10 years now, we released a demo in 2007 called “Controlled by Hatred “ and in 2016 we will launch our first EP titled ” Join the Brotherhood “ released by the National label Australis Records.
2.ECM-What or who are your influences that got you into the metal from the beginning?
Rod – The influences of Pilsen Drinkers are thrash metal and all its expression, there is no special band, we just have metal in our blood and we do what we like, playing thrash metal and drink beer.
3.ECM-So tell me the story behind the name of the band Pilsen Drinkers?
Rod – Pilsen Drinkers was born in 2004 with Diego on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Drums, guitar and Figue Remato on bass. At first we got together to play songs of our favorite bands, Exodus, Testament, Metallica, Slayer, etc, and in turn drank a lot of beer at rehearsals, that is where the name and concept of Pilsen Drinkers was born.
4.ECM-I know you didn’t play on the EP “Controlled by Hatred” if you did correct me, but why did the band get kind of quiet after that?
Rod – My departure from the band was due to an academic subject in which I was finishing my studies, and where I had to retire selling my drums, so I could not continue with the band or less record the songs we had created.
After a while the band already had another integral and recorded smoothly.
The band after having the demo “Controlled by Hatred”, suffered a great emotional blow, by losing Rodrigo Juica, bassist at the time, he died of a stroke (vascular brain), at that point that detained the band without knowing what would happen in the future.
Then in October 2010 I reunited with Diego to remember the old songs, then we recruited many musicians who passed through the band so far, the new members are Amador on guitar and vocals, and Michael on bass.
5.ECM-Don’t know if you where in the band at the time but I read that the band had it’s equipment stolen, did you ever find out who stole it?
Rod – The theft of the instruments was a disaster, at that time I was no longer participating in the band, but what happened was at the launch of the demo, they left the car parked outside the premises, instruments and copies of the records, on his return They opened the car and realized what happened, an unfortunate experience which I never heard from those responsible, a pity.
6.ECM-We’ll let’s get on to whats going on now, I see you have a new album coming out in Australis Records, that’s a very good label because they have a worldwide distribution, how did that come about?
Rod – After creating the new songs and redoing ones that weren’t unfinished, the idea to do work independently, there are 9 tracks that were recorded in the cultural center palace of the city of Coquimbo, once finished we have contact with Australis Records, who accepts us for their label because they liked the themes and recording quality as they were recorded in a professional studio. We also have the art complete, so we’re just waiting for departure to organize the launch, initially the album would come out in March this year but was delayed by problems with the cover, as our illustrator suffered a problem that is already solved.
7.ECM-I noticed that the two new songs are in English, we can expect more on the new album? and what is the story behind the title “Join The Brotherhood”?
Rod – Of course, there are songs in English and Spanish, in English are: Join the Brotherhood

There is another in English but is an instrumental called “Prophets of Chaos”.
Join the brotherhood is very clear, it is an invitation to join the Brotherhood of metal, to enjoy the thrash metal and mosh and stage diving that both characterize and also an invitation to listen to the rebirth of the band Pilsen Drinkers who have much to deliver on stage, and have a good time with your head banging and drinking lots of beer.
8.ECM-So after the album comes out, what are the plans of the band are?
Rod – The plans are simple, distribute the album to all those who like metal and thrash metal in general, tour all the cities and show what this band is made of, and if possible go out and play outside Chile, hopefully if given the opportunity, but going slowly, first Chile and it’s cities.
9.ECM-Since you guys are veterans on the scene, what do you think of these new young bands in the thrash movement coming out of there?
Rod – So far there is little movement of thrash bands, new bands are always coming out but different styles, just hope they are consistent in their work and payoff, but there are many new bands excellent in other styles, to my taste Arson, Revealer, Black Light Bringer , Hura crepitans, etc.
10.ECM-Ok let’s end this here, thanks for your time Rod and I wait for the new album, do you have any last comments for the rest of the world?

Here is a recent interview with Cris Profaner the main force behind this great Thrash band well known in the underground for the “Sunset of the End” full length and what’s on the horizon for the band.
1.ECM – Apostasy has existed for many years,for those who have never heard you describe your sound? and who are the members of the band now?
CP – APOSTASY is influenced by the classic thrash metal of the mid-eighties which is characterized by having concepts Dark, Violence and Satanism.the lp Sunset of the End Times had some Death Metal influence but the first compositions (1987) They were like the demo New Blackened by Sacrifice,I rescued riffs and ideas 1987 when I started writing songs that were influenced by Venom,Possessed,DarkAngel,Slayer,Sodom,Kreator,Destruction,Infernal Majesty,Sacrilege etc.
Cristobal Vigneaux Invincible Force joins now for recording the new LP which he’s played in recent live performances and recorded the drums for thafter recording I hope to find a suitable guitarist for the band.
2.ECM – Let’s go back to “Sunset of the End” when you recorded it how it was received? and ever expect to become an underground classic?
CP – At the time it was poorly received, they criticized the length of the songs and nobody liked the vocalist, but I felt it was the right frontman gravely sung, violent and melodic like Don Doty,Araya, nobody didn’t understand that I didn’t sing as they knew my style was darker and I kept singing, I am now convinced if I had sung at Sunset it would have had better reception, independent quality my vocals are more appropriate for the sound of a band Dark Thrash Metal.
Sweat and blood was put into that production, we worked so hard to achieve production in that time, I think the idea was to make an album for the metal scene and if it was in English we could reach the underground from all over the world, now I appreciate it more for what it is, a classic metal album more than a classic, let’s leave that for Slayer Metallica etc hehe.
3. ECM – Before you played the guitar, but now I see you’re doing bass and vocals what made you change?
CP – My original idea was Bass / Vocals to Cronos, Araya, Angel Ripper but by need and I had the instrument I played guitar, I was hoping to find someone to play guitar at that time and needed one to have an instrument, if I would of found someone I would have tried twice the time for the album .In addition there was the Concept Friendship Factor group (Band), now as the bassist and vocalist ain’t my friends anymore I tried to do something with the initial concept, Dark Thrash Metal 85/86 and singing and playing bass, Independent of the Friendship the vocalist would come to practice without knowing so it was hard on him and the bassist stayed with a 90’s style, played by half like Rasgueos recordings and had to turn it down to Newsted and Justice for all.
If I did do what I did (play and sing in my band) it would simply be stupid on my part.
4.ECM – Let’s to talk about this demo released last year, “Virgin Sacrifice” was composed in ’87? was this track left off the first album? and “Blackened by Lust” a newer composition what is the story behind this?
CP – It was written between 1987 and I wrote the song half are old riffs and I fixed it in 2013, the other has no history, It was a inspicaión the same year, I like songs Heavy Power Metal from Dark Thrash bands,I remember for example Victimized from Sacrilege(BC).
5.ECM – A few years ago an EP called “The Great Apostasy” came out, but something happened as this was deleted from your catalog, there a reason?
CP – Produced and recorded wrong with Metronome, it doesn’t have the essence of a Demo or an EP, Apostasy wants to record some old songs for an EP with me singing.
6.ECM – What happened to Cristian Gomez? he was in the band for a few years back.
CP – That guitarist that has no relevance, he never wrote or recorded anything he’s in the photo of Sunset of the End because he entered the band at that time and it was also a gesture of friendship included in the art.
7.ECM – So what you think of the Chilean scene today, you’ve been there longer than most metalheads?
I think now is incredibly good and stand out in its productions worldwide, I listen to current Chilean bands very little, I think Rust was what I heard most of the old Chilean bands, for me they are the most important and were the Best in ’87, looking back nothing was bad that was done at that time, the old is unmatched by the feeling that surrounded everything and difficult and passionate bangers ago unrepeatable what developed in those years, the quality of those groups is now making the new bands attractive today.
8.ECM – So give us a report on what is happening with the band, any new material in the works for the near future?
We are recording the new album with Sebastian Palominos who has played guitar on our last shows and produced the demo BBS and Cristobal on drums. there are 8 songs in the same style of Demo 2014
9.ECM – In closing have any last words for the rest of the world?
CP – APOSTASY from Chile is the first Apostasy in the world, Death to the Imposters !! Since 1987..This is the Great Apostasy!! HAIL SATAN!!
