Parkcrest – …and That Blue Will Turn to Red (2019)

Parkcrest
Release date: October 21st, 2019
Label: Independent

Been awhile since this thrash outfits first full length and this was a surprise to me when I got contacted about it so I was all for it as I never got around to the first one.

This is one that got better the more spins I gave it as from the opener Impossible to Hide, comes out roaring with an old Kreator vibe but more modern with intense riffs that are out for business, this is some intense thrash the way it was meant to be played even the slight tempo changes here are excellent!

The production is perfect on here everything comes out crystal clear as you can hear all the instruments as it continues on Darkest Fear which is heavy but even gets more chaotic as it goes on, some flaming leads on here that will pound the brain in, Punished in Life, gotta love this one as the lyrics add to the pleasure of as it says things most can relate to and chants of (Egoist! Hypocrite!) well you know what I mean. another strong track to keep things going in the right direction.

Until this next one Possessed by God which has a whole different vibe as there is a lot of lyrical content on here that made the track seem kinda long but the bass guitar shines on here that made this one interesting that I would say is giving you a break as Midnight Chasm gets things back into a more aggressive mode, gotta love the galloping riffs in this one to add that old school feel to it as well as the leads and the drumming really stood out here for me,good shit indeed.

Dwelling of the Moonlights is an instrumental and I always loved them and this one is a ripper lotta catchy riffage and a few tempo changes to give it some feel and an all out assault in the end that really grabbed me, but this next one Hatred ‘Till Die is probably my favorite track on this whole thing as it simply shreds even with the short bass line thrown in and then all hell breaks loose as this is out to kill! a smashing track!

And it continues on Tired and Guilty a excellent! track full of destroying riffage and the leads on here will annihilate you, another strong number as we end it with the title track …and That Blue Will Turn to Red which mostly shows what the band has put out through this whole album as it fades away in the end.

This is thrash with class, a very good follow up to the debut and hopefully soon it will come out on a label as only digital exist at the moment but from what Javier Salgado (Guitars,Vocals) told me they are looking for a label and then it will be even more enjoyable when all the lyrics are available.

Putrid Coffin – Desecrated Tombs (2019)

Putrid Coffin
Release date: March 14th, 2019
Label: La Cripta Metal Shop

The latest from Putrid Coffin its been awhile since the first album came out and I was pretty impressed with the debut and this new EP does not disappoint we get the same head bashing as on the debut with a bit better production this time around.

So lets get into it Dark Power Of Sorcerer opens this up with a nice intro then the band kicks in with its power as you can really hear the drums clear as light on here with the high hats that really stand out and one thing that the vocals on here reminded me of the Dutch man Alexander van Leeuwen (Mental Distortion,Desecrate) but the music is tight death thrash as you would expect even the slow part when the lead comes in is a pleasure to the ears.

XVTH Century Pestilent Covenant, has these short blast beats that stop and go that make you think what’s next as the guitars are ripping on here with some breaks that add to the chaos on here, like I said the production really is good, as you can hear both guitars going off in their own way, hard to explain its something you need to hear to really appreciate, onto Desecrating Tombs the title track which is interesting, its pace has a good drive to it and keeps you pinned as this band really has a good vibe especially on the fast parts as they are out to torture your soul and especially on this track, pure head pounding madness.

Darkness is Endless (Aluhe), this is the ass kicker here this one took me on the first listen as its an all out onslaught even the breaks go into more heart ripping shit! this one hit the spot my favorite track on here to this point and the closer Magnificence of Baal continues in the same vein this whole EP has shown from the start as the bands tracks take you on a trip of ups and downs through this whole thing.

Not a bad second offering from the band it’s what I expected solid death/thrash but for me it’s more in the death vein as I listened to it more and more.

The band has no social media page but this can be bought from their label which is reliable as I have purchased from them before and a big hail to Nelson for sending me this, cheers! comrade.

Vomit – Invoker of the Past (2019)

Vomit
Release date: July 10th, 2019
Label: Deathrune Records

Well well finally I got my hands on this long awaited debut from Vomit as their previous two demos really left a dent on a lot of people and here we get a couple of redone tracks off both those demos and new material as well.

This starts out with The Offering the first track off the first demo but here it sounds way better as the production on here really brings more life to the band and I’ll say just to keep this review more shorter that all the redone tracks on here all feel more fresh so you know what to expect.

But let’s get into the new material on here with Invoker of the Past being the next and this is like an anthem to old school as the chorus “True Spirit” gets to the point and the ripping on here is top notch! a fucking great track that will leave you floored! so the next new one Aberrant Insanity a fucking cool track about the shit in life with all its twist and turns, a lot of tempo changes on here but gets heavier as it goes on,not a dull moment at all.

Down in Hell of all the new tracks on here this is my favourite as this will rip you from ear hole to asshole, as this is pure hatred from hell, it crush your weak soul an all out onslaught on what this type of music was meant to be. Legions of Doom (Savage Death cover) an old track from this New Jersey band from back in the day that I remember well and this cover is righteous as hell, it puts new life into this and good to see a band cover a more obscure underground band than the usual.

The final new one on here Unholiness a pure blasphemous number full of hatred towards all fucking religion as the band is out to kill on this one, the album closes out with the old favourite Nyctophobia and a perfect closer to this awesome debut.

The wait I had to go through to get this was well worth it as this will please anybody into old school death/thrash as its heard all over this release, The production on here is perfect! ripping leads, crushing drums, distorted bass all shine to the t. another one to add to the onslaught of this years releases. Go get it you won’t regret this one.

Voor – Voor (2019)

Voor
Release date: July 13th, 2019
Label: Independent

Here is a band that has been around since 2012 from Rancagua and this their first full length, in the archives they are labeled thrash but to me there is more to their music as it has a whole technic of its own.

With a cool intro (Into Chaos) the band breaks into The Killer which is a strong opener and the vocals really stand out as well as the music is very catchy with a great drive to it and some tempo changes that keep you interested on what more is to come and the next track Reached by Your Death is a good example as this one is pounding heavy from the start and I will say the production on here is superb as you can hear all the instruments clearly and is one of my favorites on here till this point.

As we go on Rage from the South is a bit different as the tempo is more on the heavy metal side but once again the vocals really stand out but it has some catchy hooks to it that never made it dull as it goes well with the flow and will say there are some great leads through out this whole album. The Deserving of Death on here the tempo gets a bit faster and has a killer punch to it with the backing vocals “You Deserve to Die!” with an all out assault this is one of best tracks on here as it simply shreds and goes into Stoned Forever which is fast and furious from the get go but I will say I thought there would of been more to the lyrical content but all that is said is the title throughout the song but it really doesn’t matter cause the music will crush the weak.

The Deadliest Weapon has a vibe of its own and the message behind the lyrics is what made this standout for me and the playing as well as you hear the bass going off, this got better with each time I played it, so we go onto Unquiet Peace which I really had to give a few listens to before I really got it as there are many tempo changes in here that you would have to make up your own mind to it, so were getting near the end here and Your Fucking Church needs no introduction as the title speaks for itself as far as the music its killer with a bass solo thrown in and you can hear it cracking throughout and a killer lead to finish it off, and to the closer The Hatred Command a strong number with the chant THC! that adds to the flare of it as it’s heavy on all ends which is a good closer for the album.

In closing this a killer debut as it has a lot offer to anybody that likes they’re music heavy and I put a couple of tracks so you can hear them but will have to contact the band for a physical copy on their Facebook page.

Drencrom – Permanent Living Death (2019)

Drencrom
Release date: August 20th, 2019
Label: Deathrash Armageddon

Been waiting for this release for awhile as this is one of the brutalist thrash bands around and this here proves it, I seen these guys live and what you hear on here is what you get when they play live, a total assault on your mind.

On here there are some old tracks as some new and none disappoint, the production on here is the best they have done to this point and something I haven’t heard in years on the track Make Her Suffer there is a drum solo by And who is one of the best drummers when it comes to the extreme side of things and right after that Fuck Your Opinion comes in and man does this shred the vocals of Schizoid are sick as he sounds like he’s spewing right out of hell and this whole thing is sung in english just in case you’re wondering, it ends with Isolated Outburst which is an instrumental and starts out a bit different but ends this very strong as it’s catchy as fuck! but this whole release shreds from start to finish.

For those wanting this from what I read the label is selling this on vinyl format but you get a cd version as a bonus so who knows if a cd only version will come soon and yes this is highly recommended if you like extreme metal this is labeled under the thrash genre it’s heavier than that a true gem.The band has no social media so get in contact with the label.

Martyrium – Children Scream for Mercy (2019)

Martyrium
Release date: June 30th, 2019
Label: Australis Records

From the north of Chile comes the bands second full length and for those who don’t know these guys play thrash and the way they do it is purely as good as it gets as this is some furious kick you in the face shit!

From the start with a cool intro then the band takes off and first thing I noticed was the vocal style which surely sounds like that traditional chilean style you would expect but the riffing on here is excellent and the chant “Eaten Alive” adds that special flare to it.

As I listened to this whole album it got better with each spin as these guys really have some great hooks in their tracks with some killer leads everything a thrasher would want, you get those crunchy riffs as well and I really like the lyrical content of these songs as well cause they deal with real life which is a plus for me and yes sung in english and easy to understand.

This whole album is solid and is one of the best thrash albums I heard this year, I can’t even pick my favorite tracks as all of them kill and just when I was giving up on the thrash genre comes this gem, oh yeah it’s definitely got that old school feel to it. give it a listen you won’t be disappointed, whole album is on Spotify.

Necroripper – Amulepe Taiñ Weichan (2019)

Necroripper
Release date: May 20th, 2019
Label: No Mercy Reks

Well the long long awaited Necroripper release has finally come and as soon as I heard I had to check it out, for those that are not familiar with the band they play death/thrash and their debut left quite a mark back in 2012 so it’s been awhile.

This is up on Spotify just in case you wanna hear the whole thing as I did the review from listening there, but anyhow we get 8 tracks on here and this from the opening track Alwe Ulkantun you can tell the band is back with a vengeance! I was pretty much pleased from this opener and I wanna mention all the track titles are in the Mapuche language as you can see by the title of the album but sung in english from what I can hear and did some research and seen the 2 track promo had the lyrics in english so you will probably have to get a physical copy to see them.

But back to the album the next track Witxanalwe will crush you a full out attack on your senses and the production on here is superb as everything is heard the bass cracking, guitars, drums full in your face sound and it never lets down as you can here on Kollellaullin Weichafe things get even more intense as the vocals of Morbid Van Necroripper really stand out here and the bass guitar goes off a really smoking track.

The intro to Kütral Newen sounds like a horde of wolves coming at you then it breaks into an all out guitar fest of ripping leads is the best way I can describe it and short and sweet, and to the title track and here we get a little change in the vocal style but fits in perfect as it takes nothing away from the whole concept actually it fits in perfect even the slight break with a more pounding sound brings more light to the whole thing and the vocal style continues on to the next one Pewma which was a bit different in the beginning but gets going later on but has its own feel compared to the rest of the tracks on here, still brutal though and a nice fade away ending.

Nüyün Epew a heavy instrumental that has a very old school thrash vibe to it as the riffing catches the feel of the good old days and once again that crackling bass adds a more in depth sound and to the final nail in the coffin Kimün, a pure shredder as everything the album did from the start comes to a crashing end and I mean that in a good way just listen to the drums going off on here, fucking brilliant!

Was the wait worth it? hell yeah it was,it couldn’t of been much better so now I need a physical copy, the label No Mercy Reks put this out so an email is all I could find so here it is nomercyrekschile@gmail.com

Terror Society – Under Chaos (2019)

Terror Society
Release date: March 15th, 2019
Label: Independent

Here we have some kick ass thrash from this band that has been around since 2013 and on doing my research they actually released this EP last year but they put it out again with 4 bonus live tracks.

But from the beginning this caught my ear as it’s not like the rest of the pack when it comes to the vocals these really stood out as they are brutal but have there own feeling to them and the musicianship on here is superb as these guys know how to shred, the leads on here are just amazing and the production on these studio tracks really have this raw sound to them that even added more pleasure to my ears.

I got into this whole EP as it really shines throughout the whole thing even the live material shows off that these guys can rip, this is some serious thrash that will please most thrashers out there so give them a yell on their pages for more info.I just hope they put out more quality stuff in the near future.

Dangerous – Against All (2019)

Dangerous
Release date: March 9th, 2019
Label: Wolf Demons Records

Here we have the latest from this established thrash band as they have been on the scene for quite a few years now and have made a name for themselves by now.

A four track demo of some very interesting subjects as the opener Animal Liberation / Human Annihilation is basically what the title says, as I was reading the lyrics one might think it’s a vegan song but it’s more as they show you the other side of things as how humans are hypocrites with their stupid thinking, I personally love the message behind this and yes it rips in the way the band is known for so a great opener.

The next track Inner War is a gem as it has so much feeling to it and it should as it starts out with a slow bassline before it burst into a rage as the vocals come in and then it hits you with a punch and the leads on here are fucking killer as you can hear the snare drum going off as well and with a nice break near the end that just made this the track I love on here most.

Night Stalker, well you know who this is about, Richard Ramirez of course and a nice little thrasher on how his bent mind worked and very interesting as a bass solo appears near the end before this all outrage comes in to finish, the last track is a cover of Los Prisioneros a Chilean legendary band that the youth back in the day looked up too and this cover is excellent as the band give their own flare to it, nothing like the original but heavy this time and the message behind the song is perfect.

This is a great demo that still shows the band not letting down and still in the same vein as their previous release so definitely worth checking out, this was just released on tape and digital so go grab a copy.

Critical Defiance – Misconception (2019)

Critical Defiance
Release date:February 8th, 2019
Label:Unspeakable Axe Records

Some new Thrash from this band from Villa Alemana and had to check them out as I been hearing a lot about them since this was released.

From the opening track Desert Ways, I could hear there was something special as it was long with all kinds of shredding going on and just the way this band plays with all kinds of in your face aggression!

What’s really interested me was that each song has its own appeal to it even the instrumental 507 has this special sound to it that isn’t like the rest a bit tech maybe but still crushing! and the track What About You shows on how brutality can be taken to it’s ultimate as the solos are pure kill!

Onset is a hit or miss track as it’s long and a lot is happening throughout it which the listener will have to come to conclusion with as it’s 7 minutes long so have a listen, Pursuit of Chaos has a pure Bay Area feel to it with those chants that you heard a few bands back then added but they are all over this album but here they reminded me of that time, Misconception the title and final track is a perfect closer as to me the band get back to their best sound as the previous was a bit of a change for me.

This is should please all the thrashers out there as it has everything you would want in a release, vocals are perfect for it as sometimes these vocals might get boring on some thrash albums but not here, so I would put this as one of the best of the year at this point, an excellent debut.
